Preparing For Your Powder Brows
  • You may come in with your brows drawn as you normally do. This allows your artist to see how you generally wear them. Our artists also appreciate when you bring lashes to wear for photos. They make the photos pop!
  • Avoid scheduling your appointment on or around your menstrual cycle.
  • This can increase pain and bleeding which affects retention.
  • Do not consume any blood thinners 48 hours before your procedure (caffeine, alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen, niacin, vitamin E, Omega 3 – these will cause excess bleeding and may affect your results including migration, bruising and poor retention).
  • You may take Tylenol before your appointment for pain relief.
  • We prefer to clean up your brows at your initial appointment so that we can include as much natural hair as possible, especially if you’re wanting to change your shape. You may clean up your brows for the perfecting session. However, if you do decide to wax your brows, it should be done at least 3 days before your appointment.
  • If you tint your brows, tint them at least one week before the procedure and please let us know that you have your brows tinted.
  • Tanning should be avoided for at least 2 weeks prior and approximately 2 weeks after or until all scabs have come off.
  • Stop using any skin thinners and lighteners (vitamin A, vitamin C, retinol, glycolic acids, alpha hydroxyl) on the brow area 2 weeks before your appointment.
  • If you are getting a chemical peel, it is recommended that you ask your esthetician or dermatologist when they feel it is safe for you to get your brows done. We require you to wait at least 4 weeks before receiving services.
  • If using any type of Accutane, you must stop topical application at least 6 months prior and internal dosage (pills) for at least a year before services. Failure to do so can cause severe scarring.
  • If using any type of brow serum- like Latisse, you must stop at least 6 months prior and at least 4 weeks after the final session. Using serum post procedure can decrease retention.
  • Cosmetic botox or fillers should be done at least 4 weeks prior and no sooner than 4 weeks after the final session.  Do not get any botox or fillers between your initial appointment and your perfecting session.
Aftercare For Your Powder Brows

Aftercare is extremely important for producing a beautiful and lasting result. Please understand the more products you use, the less effectively the procedure may heal. Failure to follow these aftercare instructions may result in infections, pigment loss or discoloration.

Immediately after the procedure, brows may have a shiny, wet look to them. This is lymphatic fluid and needs to be gently patted off with a damp cotton pad to reduce scabbing.

  • Day 1: Before bed, make sure your hands are clean then use one Castille Soap Towelette as provided to you to gently wipe and cleanse your brows. Be sure to also clean the area of skin around your brows as well to reduce flakiness. Then pat on a thin layer of the healing cream to pat onto your brows.
  • Day 2&3: Repeat the steps above when you wake up and before bed.
  • Day 4 & onward: Do your best to leave your brows alone. Once the area starts to scab, try to avoid getting it wet. However, if you feel that your brows are dirty you may lightly rinse your brows with water, IF NEEDED.
  • If the area is itchy, do not scratch. You may use an oil-free moisturizer, the healing cream provided to apply VERY sparingly.
  • Once all your scabs have fall off, please apply sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) onto your brows.
  • Ice packs are a nice relief for swelling and bruising. Never apply directly to the skin; place a towel between the ice pack and the skin. Ice may be applied for 20 minutes maximum.
  • Do not use harsh cleansing creams, acne cleansers, or astringents. Use a mild, fragrance & oil-free soap or just plain water, preferably distilled.
  • Do not scrub, rub or pick at the epithelial crust (scabs) that form; allow it to flake off by itself. If it is removed before it is ready, the pigment underneath may be pulled out.
  • Do not use any makeup near the procedure area for at least 7 days or until all scabs have fallen off. It is best to purchase new makeup if possible, to avoid contamination or bacterial infection.
  • Avoid sun exposure, including tanning, saunas, working out, hot showers or other activities that involve sweating and steam for at least one week or at least until all scabs have fallen off. Sweat contains salt which will break down your pigment faster resulting in premature fading. When you get back into these activites make sure you are patting your brows down and not letting the sweat soak into your brows.
The Healing Process: What to Expect

It is important to note that this an estimated timeline, so don’t get too hung up on the days.

  • Day 1: Brows are Fresh & Fab!
  • Days 2-4: Brows will be dark and start to tighten as they begin to scab.
  • Days 3-14: Brows are flaking and itchy
  • Days 10-21: All scabs have fallen off and brows will look milky and pigment may not show up very well. This is due to your body producing extra skin cells to heal itself.
  • Days 14-28: Pigment has popped back out. The pigment will have shrunk; it may be patchy and uneven. This is why we do perfecting sessions.
  • Days 28 & on: Skin continues to heal, and pigment may continue to change color but will typically not continue to shrink.

Perfecting Sessions: For best results, a second perfecting session is required 6-8 weeks later, however, sometimes clients may require more. After the desired look is achieved, it is up to the client to decide when they come back for touchups. Generally, for brows, we recommend getting touchups every 12 months (clients with oily skin typically need to come in sooner). If previous PMU has faded to the point where it must be redrawn, it will be considered a new procedure and not a touch-up.

Immediately after the procedure, brows may have a shiny, wet look to them. This is lymphatic fluid and needs to be gently patted off with a damp cotton pad to reduce scabbing.
